There has been some concerns over the number of Freedom Campers using the car park areas.
Some days we have had up to 30 vehicles parked overnight and hopefully, this should not occur again. The Council's ranger has been making his presence known and moving people on.
There is now a new area for Freedom Campers near the entry at the Fire Station end. Ten spots have been marked out with signs on two poles with arrows pointing at the allowed area.
Any more than 10 vehicles and they are moved on. Also, the hours are 6pm until 9am the following day and they can stay a maximum of two days only. If they are going on any of the Wine by Bike tours, they have been allowed to leave their vehicles in the car park, rather than worrying about drink driving.
Generally, there has not been any major problems caused by the Freedom Campers over the three years. They clean up after themselves, are usually very polite and they do use the local services in Renwick.
If any "unlawful" acts are witnessed, please ring the police in the first instance. The ranger has a huge area to patrol, not just Renwick and may not be able to respond quickly.
